It’s First Friday season again! This year got off to a bang with the theme of ‘Plant Your Roots in Warrenton’. Part of the festivities was an emotional farewell to the 100-year-old Courthouse tree. People from all over the area took selfies with the tree (which was cut down on Tuesday May 7th, sob) that the town will be using to make a commemorative collage.
Further down the street, we got to witness all the hustle and bustle of the festivities first hand with the food and beer tents and the band located right outside our door! The weather held out long enough that the band could keep playing right up until 9pm.
In the store, Matthew Draws Stuff was busy making caricature masterpieces! He set up in the big window to provide street entertainment too! We had a lot of very happy customers – at least they looked happy in the drawings. Matthew will be back with us for June’s First Friday too if you’d like to come out and get a unique souvenir of the event. Below are just a few pictures of his work.
As well as having Matthew back for June, we will also have a table outside where we will be running a make-your-own s’mores bar, cold drinks from days gone by, and much more. The store will also be open and we’ll be giving out free popcorn, so make sure you come see us.
